Water Billing Update, 45 Day Grace Period for Water Bills ended, Shut-offs to Resume

45 Day Grace Period for Water Bills

The City Manager paused disconnection of utilities for 45 days, which ended on October 24th. We would like to remind all utility customers that any pass due balances prior to September 30th are due to the treasurer’s office by 4:30pm on November 13, 2026 to avoid cutoff. Any drop box payments after 4:30 pm on November 13, 2026 will be counted as next day.

Water Billing Update

To better serve residents, the City of Buena Vista will be moving to a current billing cycle. Previously, bills received around the first of the month covered a usage period that ended about 30 days earlier.

Example: The bill mailed the first week of September was from July 1st until August 1st.

For this transition to happen bills received in November and December will each have about 45 days of usage. November bills will be from September 1st until October 15th. December bills will be from October 15th until November 30th. Keep in mind these two bills will each have 2 extra weeks of usage.

Bills received in early January will reflect November 30th until December 30th usage.

How this helps:

Previously, if your bill looked high and you called us, we had to review the past 60 days to find the cause. After this change, we will only need to review the 30 days before billing.
