Message from the Office of the City Manager
September 9, 2026
The City of Buena Vista would like to inform residents that, following the implementation of our new utility billing software, we have encountered an issue affecting the tracking of some customer utility usage.
Our staff is actively working with the software provider to identify the source of the issue and restore normal operation as quickly as possible. While this work is underway, the City will provide a grace period for utility service disconnections for nonpayment and late fees for the next 45 days to ensure customers are not adversely affected while the issue is being addressed.
If your utility bill appears normal, we encourage you to continue making payments as usual to avoid future delinquencies. If you notice any unusual or unexpected charges or have questions about your bill, please promptly contact the City Manager’s Office at 540-261-8601 or the Public Works Department at 540-261-1444 so we can review your account.
To help ensure the accuracy of future billing, the City will be collecting manual meter readings alongside those captured by the new billing software during the next billing cycle. This additional verification process will help confirm that usage is being recorded accurately and that customer records remain up to date.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue. Our priority is to ensure that customer accounts are accurate before normal billing and collection procedures resume.
Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
