Miracle on 34th Street Park

The playground at 34th Street and Locust Avenue was revitalized in 2025 through a community project led by Southern Virginia (SVU) students. With the help of dedicated volunteers, the once-neglected 1970s-era park has been transformed into a welcoming space for the community to enjoy.
Camden Field

Camden Field, the former high school football field, remains a lively hub for local sports and community gatherings. It features a football field, host seasonal softball games, and is widely used for youth sports. A gravel track surrounds the field and is open for public use, and on-site restrooms add convenience. Throughout the year, the space also comes alive with community events, including annual carnivals.
Laurel Park

Laurel Park offers softball facilities in a peaceful, wooded setting, surrounded by forest for a scenic backdrop. The fields are open to the public except during scheduled use by Rockbridge Area Recreation Organization (RARO) youth sports. Restroom facilities are available on site for convenience.
River Walk

The River Walk is a 2.5-mile gravel path for walking and biking that follows the flood wall along the Maury River. It connects Glen Maury Park to downtown Buena Vista, with access at 21st Street, 10th Street, and behind Burger King. Whether you’re out for a peaceful stroll or a bike ride, it offers a refreshing way to enjoy the city’s natural beauty.
Town Square

Town Square, purchased by the City in 2021, was designed as a welcoming gathering place and a vibrant centerpiece for downtown. Brought to life through collaboration with community partners, including local timber framers who crafted the pavilion and stage cover, the space is now nearing completion. Basketball Court
16th Street and Magnolia Avenue

Two half-court basketball courts are available for casual play and pickup games. Conveniently located near downtown Buena Vista, the courts offer easy access for residents and visitors alike. Parking is available behind the courts off Forest Avenue.
