Water System Notice Regarding Cloudy or Milky Water

The City of Buena Vista is aware that some residents have noticed a milky or cloudy appearance in their water and understand the concern this may cause.

Our water system staff have identified the cause as air being introduced into portions of the water distribution system. While this appearance can be alarming, the water is still safe to drink, and the cloudy or milky look is caused by tiny air bubbles in the water and is not related to contamination.

City crews are actively working to identify and correct the source of the air intrusion. We appreciate the community’s patience as these efforts continue.

If your water appears cloudy, you may notice that it clears from the bottom up after sitting in a glass for a few moments as the air bubbles dissipate.
