Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Arrest
On March 26, 2026, at approximately 11:10 p.m., Sergeant Moore with the Buena Vista Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling westbound on Route 60 for speeding. Radar confirmed the vehicle was traveling 50 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone.
During the stop, the driver, a 47-year-old male from Lexington, Virginia, displayed suspicious behavior, leading to further investigation. During a lawful search of the vehicle, officers located a large quantity of copper fittings. Subsequent investigation determined the property had been unlawfully taken.
The individual was taken into custody, and a search warrant was later obtained, resulting in the recovery of copper fittings valued at $3,696.41.
The individual was charged with Grand Larceny and Larceny with Intent to Sell or Distribute. He was transported to Rockbridge Regional Jail and held without bond.

All charges are allegations, and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
