The Buena Vista Police Department is releasing the following information regarding Commonwealth v. Margaret Mary Wright.

Today, April 17, 2026, Margaret Mary Wright, of Buena Vista, Virginia, pleaded guilty to the charge of Second Degree Murder in connection with the death of Caral William Agnor. The offense occurred on April 23, 2024, within the City of Buena Vista, Virginia.

Margaret Mary Wright was arrested on May 7, 2024, and has remained in custody since that time.

While crimes of this nature are thankfully rare in our community, I am deeply appreciative of the hard work, professionalism, and dedication demonstrated by the members of the Buena Vista Police Department in thoroughly investigating this case and bringing Ms. Wright to justice. This outcome reflects great collaboration with our regional partners, and Buena Vista Commonwealth’s Attorney Josh Elrod. This was a collective departmental effort, led by Lieutenant Chris Plogger.”

The Buena Vista Police Department continues to work in cooperation with the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney as the case proceeds through the judicial system. Sentencing information will be released once it becomes available through the court.
